- According to Troy Renck, the Denver Broncos are looking at options on the edge, and he believes Dwight Freeney could be among them. On Friday, news broke that edge defender Shane Ray will miss six to eight weeks with a torn ligament in his left wrist. Freeney played last season with the Atlanta Falcons.
- Even at age 37, Freeney has still been playing at a high level and has proven to be a solid contributor. Last season in Atlanta, Freeney earned an overall grade of 78.3, which ranked 39th out of 110 qualifying edge defenders.
- Freeney has always been a pass-rush specialist and last season didn’t stop that trend. His PRP of 10.7 ranked 12th out of 53 qualifying 4-3 defensive ends. Among 4-3 defensive ends he racked up the 17th-most pressures (46) despite playing just the 30th-most passing snaps (332).
Could Freeney be an option for Broncos after Ray's injury?
