- Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict has apparently dropped a lot of weight this offseason, according to ESPN Bengals reporter Katherine Terrell.
- 2016 was a career year for Burfict, earning an overall grade of 87.6 that ranked seventh out of 87 eligible off-the-ball linebackers.
- When healthy Burfict has shown he is one of the best at his position. He has produced two consecutive top-15 seasons in overall grades and three in his past four. The lone exception in 2014 was an injury-filled season in which Burfict played just 223 snaps.
- In 2016 Burfict was solid in coverage. His 70.2 percent catch rate allowed ranked eighth and his passer rating against of 84.0 ranked fourth.
- He was also a top defender against the run; his 10.2 run-stop-percentage ranked third among 28 qualifying 4-3 outside linebackers. He produced 26 total run stops on 256 run-defense snaps.
