- The Bears have signed Victor Cruz to a one-year deal. Cruz returned to the field last season after missing most of 2014 and all of 2015 with a knee injury.
- Cruz will hope to continue to get back to his old self in 2017. After averaging a 79.9 grade 2011-2013, Cruz averaged a grade of just 61.0 in his 2014 and 2016 seasons (53.9 last season).
- Cruz’s route tree was much more limited in 2016. 55 percent of his targets came on hitches and go routes compared to only 16 percent of his targets coming on such routes in 2014.
- He also caught 50 percent of his deep-ball targets with zero drops on those passes, good for the 13th-best catch rate out of 78 receivers with at least 10 deep targets.
