- Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith was carted off with a lower leg injury in the Bears third preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Meredith suffered what is believed to be a torn ACL in his left knee, and notes that “it would be a major surprise if it's not season-ending”.
- Meredith played 703 offensive snaps for the Bears in 2016, and found himself as the focal point of the Bears passing attack, leading the Bears receiving corps in targets (95), receptions (66) and receiving yards (894).
- During his breakout year in 2016, Meredith ended the season averaging 2.09 yards per route run, the 11th-most of 96 receivers with at least 40 targets. His wide receiver rating (the passer rating generated when targeting that receiver) of 100.1 ranked 34th, and was the second-highest among all second-year receivers in 2016.
- With Meredith’s season likely to be over, sixth-year receiver Kendall Wright appears to be the next man up. Wright seems to have established chemistry with starting QB Mike Glennon, catching six of Glennon’s eight targets for 58 yards and a touchdown, resulting in a wide receiver of 94.8, the highest mark among Bears wide receivers.
