- Chicago Bears Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio is hoping second-year outside linebacker Leonard Floyd will “take off” this season after a somewhat stop-start rookie campaign.
- Fangio added that Floyd “had a nice stretch” in Weeks 10–14 last year, a span which saw the former Georgia Bulldog post the second-highest pass-rushing productivity (PRP) mark in the league.
- Floyd recorded 24 of his 36 total QB pressures for the season in that stretch, despite missing Week 12 due to a concussion.
- Floyd did have some struggles as a run defender, ranking 43rd out of 56 qualifying 3-4 OLBs with a run-stop percentage of 4.6.
- This is reflected in his overall season grade of 65.1 (66th among edge defenders), but his overall PRP of 11.1 as a rookie demonstrates his potential as a pass-rusher.
