- The Chicago Bears brought in former New England Patriots guard Tre’ Jackson in for a tryout during their mandatory minicamp that began Tuesday.
- Jackson missed the entire 2016 season with a knee injury and was released this offseason, but he started nine games as a rookie back in 2015, earning a 66.1 overall grade over his 13 total appearances.
- In 394 pass blocking snaps that year, Jackson allowed one sack, five hits and 18 hurries, giving him a pass blocking efficiency rating of 95.1, which ranked 51st out of 62 eligible guards.
- Jackson’s 2015 grade was higher than some of the Bears’ other backups at guard. Returning veteran Eric Kush edged him out with a 69.6 grade in 2016, but the team’s other free-agent additions haven’t fared as well in their recent performances.
