- According to Michael Gehlken, Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper has missed practice for the fifth straight day and his sixth of the last seven. Cooper has been dealing with a leg injury and his status for this weekend’s pre-season game is unknown.
- Cooper took a sizable step forward this year after an impressive rookie season. Cooper improved on his 73.5 overall grade from his rookie year earning an 82.2 overall grade in 2016 which ranked 23rd out of 115 qualifying receivers. A big contributor for his improvement was his ability to cut his drop rate down from 20.0 in 2015 (18 drops on 90 catchable targets) to 4.60 in 2016 (4 drops on 87 catchable targets).
- Cooper was very productive as a deep receiver in 2016. His 386 receiving yards on passes that travel at least 20 yards downfield ranked eight among receivers. Quarterbacks had a passer rating of 133.8 when targeting Cooper on go routes, significantly higher than the average of 84.8.
