- Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo has offered an up-and-down performance during the team’s OTAs. Aguayo’s accuracy was a concern during recent practices, continuing the trend set over his first season in Tampa Bay.
- Not only did the Bucs select the kicker out of Florida State in the second round in the 2016 draft, but GM Jason Licht traded up to get his man, which brought a lot of questioning at the time.
- After Aguayo connected on only 71 percent of his field goals attempts last year, Nick Folk was brought in to compete for the kicking duties. He was let go by the Jets after converting 27 out of 31 field goals (87.1 percent).
- One area of satisfaction for Aguayo was the starting field position: on kickoffs, he only allowed 30.4 percent of his kicks to be returned (eighth-best), giving the Bucs’ opponents an average starting position 23.1 yards out, good for fifth in the league.
