Hey there football fans! Here are five things from yesterday you need to start off your weekends:
- Mike Renner's Teaching Tape series continues with the Bengals and the RPO. The Bengals gained more yards on RPO plays than any team in the league last year. The Bengals were highly creative, using unusual formations to dress up what has become a common concept in the NFL.
- LB Ryan Shazier eyes a big year with health. Shazier believes that he can take his game to the next level if he can put 16 games together, which he has yet to do in his NFL career. He's a player known for his speed, and he has already been a productive pass rusher for the Steelers.
- DL Steve McLendon may not be a lock to make the Jets roster. He was a starter last year and was good against the run. However, his overall grade and his pass rushing grades were well below average and now he apparently may not make the team.
- The Chargers believe Hunter Henry has a bright future. Antonio Gates is on the back end of his career, but the Chargers believe that second-year pro Hunter Henry will ease the transition away from Gates after he retires. Henry had one of the best rookie seasons ever by a tight end by the yards per route run metric, being edged out by only Jimmy Graham, Jordan Reed, and Rob Gronkowski (in the PFF Era).
- Dan Clasgens broke down the list of second year fantasy wide receivers to watch. This list is impressive and varied. Between players who had great success in their first years to players coming off of injury and those in more interesting situations in year two, there are a lot of options for you to look at when building your teams.
