Hey football fans! Here are five things you need to know from yesterday to start your weekends:
- Brett Whitefield brought you PFF's defensive line prototypes. Each player on the list represents the embodiment for each major position along the defensive line. While there are many big names you'd recognize like Aaron Donald, only a PFF favorite, Damon Harrison, occupies two different positions on the list.
- Jarvis Landry has not been offered an extension yet. Landry is in the final year of his contract and won't negotiate with the Dolphins once the season starts. Landry was a weapon in the slot in 2016, leading the league in slot receptions and yards.
- Michael Oher plans on reporting to training camp. Oher's future with the team remains uncertain, after he never returned from a Week 3 concussion last year and the team brought in two new tackles via free agency and the draft. Oher had a career high in pass-blocking efficiency in 2015.
- The winners of quarterback battles will likely have fantasy implications around the league. Brandon Marianne Lee brought you a list of the situations around the league where the quarterback position isn't quite settled. Most of these situations will have wide ranging fantasy impacts, as the styles of the various quarterbacks will change the value of their pass catchers. The Jets? Maybe not so much.
- Does David Johnson deserve to be fantasy's top-ranked player? There is certainly an argument to be made for that case. The Cardinals back is as versatile as any in the league and is the focal point of a good offense. It'll be hard to go wrong with him or any of the top running back options this year.
