Hey football fans, here are five things to know from Monday to start your Tuesday's off right:
- 2017 is a make-or-break year for some players. PFF's Bryson Vesnaver brings you five players who have a little something to prove from the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. All these players have options in their contracts that their teams need to decide to pick up or decline after this season, and thus their play this year will have a significant impact on the direction of their careers.
- WR Jeremy Maclin signed with the Ravens. Maclin decided to go with Baltimore, signing a two-year deal. Maclin is hoping to put 2016 behind him, and the Ravens are hoping to improve their receiving corps after the retirement of Steve Smith Sr.
- Tyreek Hill will not be returning kickoffs in 2017. One of the league's fastest players, Hill was electric all over the field for the Chiefs in 2016, but as he's due to see an increase in his offensive snaps, the Chiefs have decided to reduce his role on special teams.
- Washington wants Josh Doctson to be their Z. After losing Pierre Garcon in free agency, Doctson seems to be the favorite candidate to take over the role he leaves in his wake. Doctson was more of a deep threat in college, the last place where he received major playing time due to a 2016 injury, but as PFF's top graded wide receiver in the 2016 Draft, he should be capable of filling the role for Washington.
- How important are efficiency statistics in fantasy football? PFF's Scott Barrett looked at how fantasy players can use the extreme ends of the efficiency metrics spectrum to better evaluate players for the upcoming season. Is someone like Allen Robinson, who had a down 2016 but has previously had good fantasy totals, likely to bounce back, or are inefficiencies in his game going to hold him back?
