- The Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver Davante Adams to a four-year $58 million extension, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Adams, who was heading for free agency this offseason, will now be staying in Green Bay until 2021.
- Adams was drafted by the Packers with the 53rd overall pick of the 2014 NFL draft and after a slow start to his career, he’s blossomed into a very talented receiving threat. This season, Adams has enjoyed a career year in terms of grades and through 16 weeks, his PFF overall grade of 83.5 ranks 14th among 116 qualifying pass-catchers.
- Adams has been extremely efficient with the targets that have come his way this season and even with some inconsistent quarterback play, he has caught 74-of-79 catchable passes and generated a passer rating of 120.3, which is the best mark among his teammates and the seventh-best mark among all receivers with at least 45 targets to their name.
- The fourth-year receiver has also developed into one of the best red zone weapons in football. In his four seasons as a pro, he’s seen a total of 88 red zone targets, the third most among receivers in that span, and he has found the end zone on 26 of those targets, which ties him for the second-most among the same group. All told, Adams has generated a passer rating of 116.5 on his red zone targets over the last four seasons, which ranks fifth among the 68 receivers with at least 30 red zone targets since 2014.
