NFL Week 8 Game Recap: New York Jets 13, New York Giants 10

In a low-scoring and often ugly game, the New York Jets made enough big plays at the death to kick a game-winning field goal and beat the New York Giants 13-10 in overtime. 

Offensive Spotlight: Zach Wilson continued to show green shoots of development as the team has been forced to turn back to him after the injury to Aaron Rodgers. Wilson averaged only 6.7 yards per attempt, and his passer rating was poor, but he came up with multiple big plays late in the game with everything on the line and has at least been viable — something that couldn’t always be said about his play in the past.

Defensive Spotlight: Dexter Lawrence had one of those games where he was virtually unblockable and made his way into the backfield almost every play. At his best, Lawrence is as good as any interior defender in football, and this was him at his best. Pending review, he produced a pass-rush win rate of 40.0%, and he was far from poor in the run game, too.

Rookie Spotlight: Several rookies played extensively in this game, but the most active was perhaps Giants cornerback Deonte Banks. The first-rounder was targeted a massive 13 times, allowing seven catches for 100 yards. Four of the seven catches Banks gave up moved the chains, but he did have two pass breakups to his credit on the other side of the ledger.
