NFL Week 6 Game Recap: Los Angeles Rams 26, Arizona Cardinals 9

The Arizona Cardinals traveled to Los Angeles to take on the Rams at SoFi Stadium, starting off strong and keeping the game close before Matthew Stafford and company pulled away in the second half and posted a 26-9 final score.

Sean McVay turning to the ground game in the second half after amassing just five yards on three first-half carries is really what got the Rams going, with Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers picking up chunk gains time and time again. Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs, who had done a good job of taking care of the football all year, had an interception and a lost fumble that put this game out of reach.

Offensive spotlight: Cardinals sophomore tight end Trey McBride had four receptions for 62 yards, with 29 coming after the catch. McBride also hauled in two contested catches. The Cardinals were unable to find the end zone as drives continued to stall out, but they did avoid three-and-outs for the most part.

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has picked up right where he left off, with seven receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Kupp had four explosive receptions and forced two missed tackles, consistently creating separation at every level of the field. Running back Kyren Williams averaged nearly eight yards per carry with 158 total on 20 totes. He added a touchdown and a whopping 10 forced missed tackles on first review. Matthew Stafford averaged 9.4 yards per attempt and did not turn the ball over on the afternoon.

Defensive spotlight: Cardinals linebacker Kyzir White had a sack and four defensive stops, leading all players in the game along with Rams rookie edge defender Byron Young. Edge defender Victor Dimukeje and interior defender Kevin Strong also brought Matthew Stafford down for a sack each. The Cardinals' defense did not force an incompletion in coverage and missed nine tackles on the afternoon, so it wasn’t their best performance of the young season, but they did well early to bend but not break.

Rams interior defender Aaron Donald led all players with six quarterback pressures and three tackles for loss or no gain, living in the backfield against the run and pass, as he does most Sundays. Rams linebacker Christian Rozeboom had a key interception down near the goal line on a tipped pass off of Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz.

Rookie spotlight: Cardinals rookie wide receiver Michael Wilson continued the impressive start to his NFL career, hauling in three receptions for 62 yards with two contested catches on first review.

Rams rookie edge defender Byron Young continues to make splash plays as the down-to-down consistency comes along, with a very respectable five total pressures and a key late sack of Josh Dobbs, who had been evading pressure and shaking out of ankle tackles in the backfield all game long. Young had three more defensive stops in the game, including a tackle for loss.
