The Cincinnati Bengals held on late to keep their season resurgence alive and come away with a 17-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
Offensive spotlight: Geno Smith had a wildly inconsistent game, passing for 323 yards at almost eight yards per clip. Every time you looked up, Smith was delivering a big play to one of his receivers, but he also made some major mistakes with the football and threw two interceptions to offset much of the good he did. His adjusted completion rate was 75.0%, and his average target depth was 9.5 yards downfield.
Defensive spotlight: Cincinnati’s defense showed up in a big way and put Geno Smith under all kinds of pressure throughout the game — particularly late on — contributing heavily to his erratic day as a passer. Seven different Bengals defenders generated multiple pressures on first review, and Smith ended up under pressure around 50% of his dropbacks. This was the best performance from the Bengals defense we have seen this season.
Rookie spotlight: Devon Witherspoon had another outstanding outing in what is looking like a spectacular rookie season for the Seahawks. He was targeted five times and allowed three catches for 14 yards. He also had two forced incompletions, and just one of those catches moved the chains with a first down.
