The Minnesota Vikings came up short in their attempt at a late comeback, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs at home by a 27-20 score.
Offensive spotlight: Even after missing a significant portion of the game with an ankle injury, Travis Kelce led the team in targets (11), catches (10) and receiving yards (67), and he was one of two Chiefs receivers to get in the end zone. Kelce ended up with fewer snaps and routes run than he typically does, meaning he managed an impressive 3.2 yards per route run given his playing time.
Defensive spotlight: Vikings safety Camryn Bynum had an active day with both good and bad. He had an outstanding pass breakup in the end zone to prevent Travis Kelce from coming down with a touchdown early in the game. He was in tight coverage on the play and played Kelce well to prevent the catch. It was one of two forced incompletions, but he also allowed 68 yards from five catches into his coverage, giving up a catch every target that wasn’t broken up.
Rookie spotlight: Justin Jefferson was kept uncharacteristically quiet, so rookie Jordan Addison was Minnesota’s primary receiver in terms of production. Addison was targeted nine times, resulting in six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Addison didn’t have a catch longer than 18 yards, but his route running was crisp and resulted in notable separation multiple times.
