The San Francisco 49ers closed out Week 4 with a 24-9 victory over the divisional rival Los Angeles Rams at Levi's Stadium on Monday night.
While the game was close throughout, a couple explosive plays from 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel in addition to Matthew Stafford throwing a fourth-quarter interception to 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga on a tunnel screen created the separation that lead to San Francisco's victory.
Offensive spotlight: Samuel displayed why he's one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL, regardless of position, against the Rams on Monday night, as the South Carolina product was able to create the explosive plays that enabled San Francisco to distance itself from Los Angeles. He finished with six catches from seven targets for 115 yards and a touchdown en route to an 85.0-plus receiving grade on first review. Samuel was the only 49ers pass-catcher to breach 40 receiving yards, which points toward how important his production was to Jimmy Garoppolo‘s passable performance.
Samuel's ability to create yards after the catch was especially evident, as he forced three missed tackles and generated three explosive plays en route to 106 total yards after the catch.
Defensive spotlight: In a game filled with superstar defensive talent, 49ers edge defender Nick Bosa put together the most dominant performance of them all, finishing with an 88.0-plus overall grade on first review. Bosa was credited with a game-high three sacks to go along with an incredible 14 total pressures and 29.5% pass-rush win rate. The Ohio State product also added a run stop to round out his dominant evening.
Rookie spotlight: While there wasn't a ton of rookie production in this game, Rams rookie cornerback Derion Kendrick had a busy evening. The Georgia product allowed four of the six targets into his coverage to be caught for 89 yards, a touchdown and three first downs. To his credit, Kendrick also forced an incompletion and added a tackle against the run.
Offensive line spotlight: The Rams' pass protection struggled mightily against the 49ers' ferocious pass rush, allowing 30 total pressures and a 53.6% pressure rate. Tackle Joseph Noteboom had an especially tough night, allowing 10 total pressures and three sacks.
