NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Indianapolis Colts 31, Houston Texans 20

The Indianapolis Colts came away with a big road win within the division as they beat the Houston Texans by a score of 31-20 in Week 2.

Offensive spotlight: Anthony Richardson scored two rushing touchdowns, but on the second one, he took a shot after crossing the goal line, resulting in his head bouncing off the turf. He left the game and was ruled out with a concussion, putting Gardner Minshew into action.

Minshew went 19-of-23 for 171 yards and a touchdown, averaging 7.4 yards per attempt and looking well capable of leading this offense at a high level. Losing Richardson is obviously a blow to the Colts, but Minshew showed he can be a starter in this league if needed.

Defensive spotlight: The Colts' defense had some good success against C.J. Stroud and the Texans' offense, but it was a shared endeavor. Dayo Odeyingbo forced a fumble that was recovered by Kwity Paye on a sack where the pocket collapsed on Stroud from multiple angles. Five different Colts players recorded multiple quarterback pressures in the game.

Rookie spotlight: C.J. Stroud ended up with some big numbers after trailing for much of the game. He passed for 384 yards at 8.2 yards per attempt. This week, his favorite target was fellow rookie Tank Dell. The third-round receiver led the team with 10 targets, catching seven of them for 72 yards and a score. Stroud’s biggest issue was pressure and sacks, but he showed he could make all the throws in this game.
