The Pittsburgh Steelers secured head coach Mike Tomlin yet another winning season — his 17th straight — with a 30-23 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17.
Offensive spotlight: Mason Rudolph had another solid game, but the story of the Pittsburgh offense was the run game. Najee Harris carried the ball 27 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns. He would have had a third, except he intentionally slid to the ground to end the game rather than take the six points. Harris averaged over 4.0 yards per carry after contact, and Jaylen Warren was a fine complement with 5.8 yards per carry on 13 attempts.
Defensive spotlight: Pittsburgh’s pass rush was effective, but it wasn’t coming from the usual source — the edge. T.J. Watt had an uncharacteristically quiet performance, even outside of leaving the field with an injury for some time. Instead, it was the interior of the Steelers defensive line that all stood up as pass rushers. Rookie Keeanu Benton, Larry Ogunjobi and Montravius Adams all posted impressive pass-rush win rates of at least 25.0%, pending grade review.
Rookie spotlight: Each team featured a rookie cornerback, with Seattle’s Devon Witherspoon and Pittsburgh’s Joey Porter Jr. each seeing 31 snaps. Witherspoon allowed just one catch for 13 yards, while Porter let up two catches for 54 yards.
