After playing from behind for the entire game, the Pittsburgh Steelers made the necessary plays when it mattered most to pick up the 13-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday night.
The Steelers' come-from-behind victory improves their record to 7-8 and keeps them in the race for an AFC wild-card berth while Raiders' loss moves them to 6-9.
Offensive spotlight: Neither offense impressed Saturday night, but Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow was a notable performer, totaling. four catches from seven targets for 42 yards, three first downs and a touchdown. He also forced two missed tackles after the catch to round out his positive outing.
Defensive spotlight: Steelers interior defender Cameron Heyward was arguably the best player on the field Saturday night, as he put together an extremely impressive performance in the victory against the Raiders. Heyward totaled five pressures — two of which were sacks — en route to a 23.3% pass rush win percentage on the evening. Against the run, Heyward finished with three tackles and two run stops (both of which resulted in tackles for loss). Heyward's well-rounded performance helped fuel Pittsburgh's strong defensive showing that kept the team in the game all evening.
Rookie spotlight: Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett‘ finished 26-of-39 for 192 yards, a touchdown and an interception while dealing with two drops by his pass-catchers. He generated a big-time throw while also avoiding a turnover-worthy play on PFF's initial review. Pickett's 5.3-yard average depth of target needs to improve if this Steelers' offense hopes to show any sort of consistency in the future. Nonetheless, Pickett made the plays when it mattered most, leading the Steelers to a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
Offensive line spotlight: The Steelers offensive line did an excellent job slowing Maxx Crosby and company Saturday evening, as it yielded only six pressures while avoiding any sacks across 38 pass-blocking snaps. Guard Kevin Dotson was particularly impressive, as he didn't lose a single snap in pass protection.
On the other hand, Raiders guard Dylan Parham had a particularly tough day, allowing six total pressures, including three sacks, across 32 pass-blocking snaps.
