The Philadelphia Eagles took a one-game lead atop the NFC East with a 33-25 victory over the New York Giants on Christmas Day.
While the Eagles still weren't perfect, they managed to jump out to an early lead that they were able to defend, though the Giants certainly didn't make it easy for them in the second half.
The Eagles now boast an 11-4 record with games against the Arizona Cardinals (Week 17) and New York Giants (Week 18) to wrap up the regular season. If they win out, they will take the NFC East for the second year in a row. The Giants fall to 5-10 and could now have a question at quarterback, as Tommy DeVito struggled this week before being sent to the bench in favor of Tyrod Taylor.
Offensive spotlight: Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 24 of his 38 pass attempts for 301 yards, one touchdown and one interception. However, that interception had less to do with him and more to do with tight end Dallas Goedert losing his footing. Hurts averaged 7.5 yards per pass attempt on the day and added 34 rushing yards and a rushing score on eight carries.
Defensive spotlight: Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick racked up four quarterback hits and two hurries on his 26 pass-rush snaps, with the veteran pass-rusher producing an impressive 21.4% pass-rush win rate on the day. Reddick added a tackle for loss in the run game to cap off a solid afternoon.
Rookie spotlight: Eagles cornerback Kelee Ringo was targeted three times in coverage, and while he allowed two passes to be caught, those receptions gained a grand total of 9 yards and no first downs. Ringo picked off the other pass thrown into his coverage and tallied four solo tackles in the contest.
