For the first time in his career, Justin Herbert is heading to the playoffs.
That’s because the Los Angeles Chargers dominated the Indianapolis Colts 20-3 on Monday Night Football.
At 9-6, the Chargers will officially head to the postseason for the first time in four years. Meanwhile, the Colts are currently picking in the top-five of the 2023 NFL Draft at 4-10-1.
Offensive spotlight: Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen currently has an 84.3 grade on first review, which would be his highest single-game mark since 2020. The 10th-year receiver caught 11 of his 14 targets for a season-high 104 yards, averaging 3.25 yards per route run against the Colts.
Defensive spotlight: Linebacker Kenneth Murray has looked like a bust since being drafted in the first round by the Chargers in 2020, but he had a career night against the Colts. Murray currently has a 90.1 grade on first review, which would be the highest of his three-year career so far. Murray picked up a sack on one of his two pass-rushing snaps. He also didn’t allow any catches on three targets while forcing two incompletions.
Rookie spotlight: Tight end Jelani Woods was one of the lone bright spots for the Colts offense tonight. The third-rounder from Virginia caught three of his five targets for 43 yards and a couple first downs while averaging a team-high 2.05 yards per route run.
Offensive line spotlight: The Chargers offensive line did a decent job of protecting Herbert, only allowing a pressure on 19.4% of their 36 pass-blocking snaps. Right tackle Trey Pipkins and center Corey Linsley were particularly impressive with a clean sheet on the night.
