The Las Vegas Raiders played spoiler to the struggling Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, beating them 20-14 to deny Kansas City its eighth consecutive AFC West title — at least for now.
The Chiefs struggled for most of the game and continued their run of turning the ball over at crucial points in the contest. The Raiders were efficient on both sides of the ball and capitalized on most opportunities that came their way.
Offensive spotlight: Patrick Mahomes didn't just earn the lowest single-game grade of his 2023 season; he earned the lowest single-game grade of his seven-year career. The Chiefs signal-caller finished 27-of-44 for 235 yards, one touchdown and one interception, but he also recorded five turnover-worthy plays and no big-time throws.
Mahomes earned a 30.5 PFF passing grade in the contest, the sixth-worst single-game grade of the season.
Defensive spotlight: Raiders cornerback Jack Jones was targeted four times in coverage, but he allowed just one completion for 7 yards and jumped in front of an errant Mahomes pass to bring up his second pick-six in as many games.
Rookie spotlight: Rashee Rice saw a career-high 11 targets in this one. He caught six catchable passes thrown his way for 37 yards — 35 of which came after the catch — and two first downs.
