The Kansas City Chiefs ended their two-game losing skid with a timely road win against the New England Patriots in Week 15, moving to 9-5 on the year.
Offensive spotlight: Patrick Mahomes went 27-of-37 passing for 305 yards, two touchdown passes and two interceptions. Travis Kelce was targeted seven times and caught five passes for just 28 yards.
The Chiefs' backfield combination of Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon stepped up big, with lead back Isiah Pacheco missing his second straight game. Edwards-Helaire totaled just 37 yards rushing but added 64 yards through the air on four catches, one of which went for a touchdown. McKinnon also added a receiving touchdown.
Bailey Zappe got off to a strong start in the first half, completing 17 of his 19 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, that didn’t last, as he threw an interception on his first play of the second half, setting the Chiefs up in the red zone and allowing them to go up by two scores. Hunter Henry led the team with 66 receiving yards and added a touchdown, giving him three in the last two games.
Defensive spotlight: L’Jarius Sneed was everywhere for Kansas City’s defense today, leading the team in total tackles (nine) while adding a pass breakup. The Chiefs were also able to record four sacks on the Patriots quarterback. Willie Gay also came up with his first interception of the season in this one.
Rookie spotlight: Rashee Rice has been a key contributor to the Kansas City offense in recent weeks, seeing his snap share and production increase significantly to the point where he is now the clear top wide receiver on this team. Rice again proved that this week by earning nine targets, which he took in for nine catches, 91 yards and a touchdown.
