NFL Week 13 Game Recap: Atlanta Falcons 13, New York Jets 8

The Atlanta Falcons increased their chances of claiming the NFC South with a 13-8 win over the New York Jets on the road in Week 13.

A safety by the Jets' defense opened the scoring after a Thomas Morstead punt had backed the Falcons up near their goal line, but they bounced back to take a 7-2 lead early in the second quarter on a 20-yard pass from Desmond Ridder to MyCole Pruitt.

A 27-yard field goal from Greg Zuerlein made it 7-5 with four minutes left in the first half, and a 22-yard kick from Younghoe Koo brought the score to 10-5 at halftime.

Zuerlein was good from 46 yards out early in the third quarter to make it 10-8, before Koo replied to put the Falcons up by five again.

Offensive spotlight: The Jets made another change at quarterback in this game, with Trevor Siemian replacing Tim Boyle in the fourth quarter. Boyle finished the game 14-of-25 for 148 yards and an interception, leading just two scoring drives. Siemian went 5-of-13 for 66 yards in relief.

Defensive spotlight: Bud Dupree was the defensive star for the Falcons, registering a pair of sacks and forcing a fumble. The Falcons' defense did well to bring Jets players down behind the line of scrimmage, with Dupree, Lorenzo Carter, Nate Landman and Clark Phillips III registering tackles for loss. Kentavius Street also recorded a pair of his own.

Rookie spotlight: The Jets held Falcons running back Bijan Robinson mostly in check. He averaged just 2.9 yards per carry from 18 rushing attempts and was tackled in the end zone for a safety. He did add 26 yards on three receptions, though.
