Scoring was hard to come by in this Week 12 battle, which included a potential game-tying field goal in the final seconds that New England Patriots kicker Chad Ryland missed to give the New York Giants their fourth win of the year.

Offensive spotlight: Both offenses took their time to show up, but coming out of the two-minute warning in the first half, Isaiah Hodgins was able to will his way into the end zone to get the Giants on the board first.

Rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito completed 17-of-25 attempts for 191 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley was essentially a non-factor in this game, carrying the ball 12 times for just 46 yards and adding only one catch for 6 yards.

Mac Jones was benched once again this week after going 12-for-21 for 89 yards and two interceptions. Bailey Zappe replaced him to start the second half, and he started by going a perfect 6-of-6 passing for 38 yards, getting the team into scoring position where running back Rhamondre Stevenson was able to finish the drive with a rushing touchdown. Unfortunately, Zappe completed just three of his eight attempts for only 15 yards and an interception the rest of the way.

Defensive spotlight: Former 2017 first-round pick Jabrill Peppers has been given another chance to be an NFL starter this season, and he has been an impact player for the Patriots. Peppers delivered a sack and a fumble recovery this week to keep the Patriots in a tight game throughout.

Rookie spotlight: Jalin Hyatt was far and away the Giants’ leading receiver in this game, coming up with five catches on six targets for 109 receiving yards. This was Hyatt’s first career 100-yard game in the NFL.
