NFL Week 11 Game Recap: San Francisco 49ers 27, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14

The San Francisco 49ers once again got off to a hot start in the second week after their perfectly timed bye, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and carrying a 27-7 edge into the fourth quarter, ultimately suffocating the Buccaneers' offense down the stretch to close out a 27-14 victory.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was nearly flawless as a passer against a Buccaneers coverage unit that has been very exploitable of late, going 21-of-25 for 333 yards with three touchdowns. Purdy was 8-of-10 for 228 yards and two touchdowns on passes targeted 10-plus yards downfield.

Offensive spotlight: Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans made his first grab of the day in the endzone and finished the game with five receptions for 43 yards. No Buccaneers pass-catcher hit the 50-yard mark, and the run game added just 66 yards.

49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk exploded for 156 yards and a touchdown on five receptions, with a 76-yard score serving as the main highlight on a day filled with explosive plays. Tight end George Kittle racked up eight receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown, consistently moving the chains and barreling through would-be tacklers on underneath targets. Running back Christian McCaffrey got a new touchdown streak started after his 18 consecutive game stretch was snapped last week.

Defensive spotlight: Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield was all over the field, making nine solo tackles and two defensive stops. He came up in the run game to help limit the 49ers' offense from breaking off any rushing play of 15 or more yards all game — not an easy feat against the 49ers, even for as good as this Tampa Bay run defense can be.

49ers linebackers Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw were their usual dominant selves, with Warner logging six defensive stops — including several key tackles for loss to effectively stall out drives — and Greenlaw delivering a few huge crunches over the middle and near the sideline to stop the Buccaneers short of first-down yardage.

Rookie spotlight: Buccaneers rookie edge defender Yaya Diaby notched two sacks and three tackles for loss, following up his best game as a professional in Week 10 with his new best outing as a pro in Week 11. He boasts three sacks and five defensive stops over the span.

49ers rookie safety Ji’Ayir Brown stepped in to replace 2022 All-Pro Talanoa Hufanga following an injury that required him to be carted off, and he ended up making one of the key plays in the victory. Brown intercepted a pass from Baker Mayfield in the end zone with the Buccaneers knocking on the doorstep down 27-14 with around three minutes to go in the game.
