The Houston Texans survived a late scare to beat the Arizona Cardinals 21-16 in Week 11 of the 2023 NFL season.
Offensive spotlight: We’ll get to rookies C.J. Stroud and Tank Dell in a bit, but running back Devin Singletary also had a big day for the Houston offense. Singletary carried the ball 22 times for 112 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.1 yards per attempt and 3.0 yards after contact per attempt. Singletary’s rushing style has been a perfect fit for this Houston offense.
Defensive spotlight: Will Anderson Jr. was the most impactful pass-rusher in this game, generating a sack but also a pass-rush win rate of over 17%, pending grade review. He has been impressive in his rookie season so far.
Rookie spotlight: C.J. Stroud made a couple of mistakes in this game, ending up with three interceptions, though one wasn’t really a bad play but rather tight coverage batting the ball up in the air.
Stroud still made several key plays, including converting a third down after being knocked out of the game by a big hit on a blitz. Fellow rookie Tank Dell had a huge day on the other end of Stroud’s passes, catching eight passes for 149 yards and a touchdown and averaging 4.26 yards per route run.
