The Detroit Lions are suddenly on a two-game winning streak after seemingly giving up on the season by dealing away tight end T.J. Hockenson to the Minnesota Vikings at the trade deadline.

The Lions outlasted quarterback Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears 31-30 in an NFC North battle on the road at Soldier Field behind an impressive 10-catch, 119-yard performance by wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Offensive spotlight: Despite the loss, Fields continued to look like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, taking 13 carries for 147 yards and two rushing touchdowns and going 12-of-20 for 167 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Fields did have a pick-six but almost immediately made up for it with a 67-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Defensive spotlight: Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah got the best of his fellow Ohio State product with a pick-six on Fields. He didn’t allow a catch on two targets in coverage.

Rookie spotlight: Bears linebacker Jack Sanborn, an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin, sacked Lions QB Jared Goff twice and allowed three catches on four targets for 25 yards with an interception. He made two total defensive stops in the loss.

Lions rookie edge defender Aidan Hutchinson also had a key sack late in the fourth quarter.

Offensive line spotlight: Bears rookie left tackle Braxton Jones was perfect in pass protection on first review. He didn’t allow a single pressure and wasn’t beaten by a defender while pass-blocking. Chicago’s offensive line allowed just five pressures, while the Lions let up six.
