The Detroit Lions welcomed now-Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford back to Ford Field with boos from fans and hard hits from pass rushers. The Lions threw everything at their former signal-caller, and while he remained unfazed at the start, they shut him down when it mattered most on their way to a 24-23 win.
The Lions waited 30 years for a home playoff game. They waited 32 years for a playoff win. And Detroit will now be home to another week of action in the divisional round.
Offensive spotlight: Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford went blow for blow in the early going. Both earned 80.0-plus game grades. Goff finished with an 88.0% adjusted completion percentage — which accounts for drops, batted passes, spikes and throwaways — to rank seventh among all playoff performances since 2020.
Defensive spotlight: Aidan Hutchinson is the early postseason leader in pressures generated (nine). His 39.1% pressure rate and 34.8% pass-rush win rate are also league-best marks from Super Wild Card Weekend through Sunday.
Rookie spotlight: Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua broke D.K. Metcalf‘s rookie playoff record for receiving yards, tallying 181 in the loss. He recorded 104 yards after the catch, tied for the eighth most in a playoff game since 2015.
