Injuries to edge defender T.J. Watt and wide receiver Diontae Johnson, although not expected to be long-term, took center stage in the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ 19-9 win over the Detroit Lions to cap the 2022 NFL preseason.
Offensive spotlight: Craig Reynolds, in his quest to secure his role as the Lions' RB3, entered in the fourth quarter and tallied 31 yards on six carries. He forced two missed tackles and averaged a solid 3.8 yards after contact per attempt.
Defensive spotlight: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt finished first reviews as the Steelers' highest-graded defenders — a good sign for Pittsburgh's starting defense.
Rookie spotlight: Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett again looked beyond his years. He made one big-time throw and had an average time to throw of just 2.31 seconds — further proof that he's sped up his game at the NFL level.
Offensive line spotlight: The Steelers' starting offensive line got 21 snaps of work in as pass protectors, allowing only two pressures. Chukwuma Okorafor, Dan Moore Jr. and Kevin Dotson all remained clean in pass protection.
