NFL Preseason Week 2 Game Recap: Jacksonville Jaguars 25, Detroit Lions 7

Backup-heavy offenses led to a slow start in this preseason Week 2 battle between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions.

The Jaguars scored the first touchdown with 28 seconds left in the first half on a 15-yard pass to Parker Washington, and the teams would trade touchdowns in the third quarter before Jacksonville added another score in the fourth quarter to close out a 25-7 victory.

Offensive spotlight: Jaguars rookie running back Tank Bigsby once again showed why many think he can make an impact in the NFL. Seeing 13 carries in the game, Bigsby racked up 70 rushing yards — 41 of which came after contact. Fellow running back D’Ernest Johnson scored both of the team’s rushing touchdowns.

Defensive spotlight: James Houston showed out for the second week in a row, making plays throughout the game for the Lions. He was on the field late in the fourth quarter, securing the final of his four tackles for loss with three minutes left in the game and adding a sack.

Rookie spotlight: Despite most of the Lions' starters sitting, we did get another look at first-round rookie linebacker Jack Campbell. On the field for 22 snaps, Campbell registered two tackles resulting in a defensive stop against the run and was impressive all round again.

Offensive line spotlight: The Lions struggled in pass protection throughout the game and offered little as run blockers, too. While the Jaguars found success with both Tank Bigsby and D’Ernest Johnson running the ball, the Lions as a team averaged just 1.8 yards per carry.
