The New York Giants have relieved Jason Garrett of his duties as offensive coordinator, the team announced Tuesday.
The news comes one day after the Giants lost 30-10 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and put up just 215 yards of offense.

Garrett was hired as offensive coordinator when Joe Judge came on board as head coach in 2020. He previously served as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 2011 until he was fired after the 2019 season.
Former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is expected to serve as the interim offensive coordinator.
Critically, Garrett had done nothing to help Giants quarterback Daniel Jones progress since arriving in 2020. New York ranks 30th in expected points added (EPA) per pass play since 2020 and is 25th so far in 2021 despite using a first-round pick on wide receiver Kadarius Toney and giving wide receiver Kenny Golladay the largest free-agent contract at the position this offseason.
