New Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s imprint is already clearly visible after two preseason games, and it’s a much-needed change if the team is to confound expectations and contend again in the 2021 NFL regular season.

The Steelers collapsed down the stretch last year, going from the league’s last undefeated team at 11-0 to a 12-4 record by the time the season finished. During the final stretch of games that includes the playoff defeat, the Steelers offense ranked 26th in the league in EPA per play on offense, just ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals who, by that point, were bouncing between Brandon Allen and Ryan Finley at quarterback after Joe Burrow’s injury.
