Don’t look now, but Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is starting to play excellent football.
He isn’t a rookie, but this is Love’s first season as an NFL starter, and it’s difficult to say how much development can truly occur from the sidelines or from a position buried on the depth chart. There’s a real chance that the only way to earnestly improve or work on weaknesses is through live repetitions and game action.
If that’s the case, this may as well be Love’s rookie season, as the rest of his NFL career included just 71 dropbacks.
For the first seven games of the 2023 NFL season, Love looked a lot like the quarterback we saw in college — inaccurate and inconsistent, but capable of making big plays.
Over the past month, however, something has changed.
His three best games in terms of PFF grade have all come in his past four outings. Three of his four performances of averaging more than 8.0 yards per attempt have come in the same games, and half of his 18 big-time throws on the year have come in his past three contests.

The Packers' opposing competition level during that stretch was a mixed bag, but the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions represent formidable foes and were arguably Love’s best performances.
