One of my favorite aspects of PFF data is the extra context we can add to defensive back play. Sometimes coverage numbers match up perfectly with a player's performance in the secondary, but sometimes the numbers can lie like a cheap watch, and that's where the grading can add layers of context to better reflect what took place.
Was a pass incomplete because of a great play in coverage, or was the defender badly beaten, only to get lucky as the offense couldn't execute the free play?
