  • A report by Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, suggests rookie wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is working on staying calm in the red zone with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. In OTAs, he was mainly working with the second team as the No. 4 receiver, but the first team gave him some opportunities in goal-line situations.
  • Smith-Schuster was taken with the 62nd overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft. In 2016 his overall grade of 75.2 ranked 83rd of 302 wide receivers. He averaged 2.15 yards per route run in 2016, ranking 60th among receivers and in 2015 he averaged 4.0 yards per route run, the sixth-best mark among receivers with at least 100 targets.
  • The Steelers are looking to utilize Smith Schuster’s 6-foot-2 frame in the red-zone offense. Smith-Schuster caught five of seven targets in the red zone for USC in 2016, and all five receptions resulted in touchdowns. He earned a WR rating (the passer rating the quarterback receives when targeting him) of 118.5 in the red zone, beating both Corey Davis and Mike Williams, who were selected before him in this year’s NFL draft.
