The fantasy football waiver wire is usually at its busiest this early in the season, with every team still contending for a playoff spot and looking to improve its roster. With Week 2 in the books, it is starting to become more clear on how teams plan to utilize certain players on their defense and which of those players are trusted enough to get the larger workloads that they can turn into some points for our fantasy football rosters.
Here are 10 more IDP options who can add some value to rosters going forward.
Defensive line
Chase Winovich, DE, New England Patriots
Winovich was Michigan’s most productive edge rusher last season in college with 53 total pressures and 5 sacks and put that skill on display Sunday. Yes, he was working against a Miami offensive line that is not very good (to say the least), but it’s nice to see that even when facing NFL-level competition, he can still produce. Landing two sacks on Sunday, as well as three from the preseason, are good indicators that Winovich can be a nice stash on our rosters should we need some help at the DE position this season.
Benson Mayowa, DE, Oakland Raiders
Mayowa has always been a streaky player for fantasy purposes so it’s time to get in while the streaking’s hot. Not playing a ton of snaps in Weeks 1 or 2 but being utilized as a pass-rush specialist over two weeks has led Mayowa to collect 4 sacks already this season, which ties his total from all of last season. It might be hard to know when to trust Mayowa as a starter for fantasy but now might be as good a time as any while he’s on a roll getting after the QB and facing a weak Minnesota offensive line in Week 3.
