The NFL season is officially back, meaning we can finally put our fantasy football lineups to the test. This week’s players to target on the waiver wire will be more of a watch list for the upcoming Week 1 slate, with the remaining weeks reverting to more of a traditional post-week view that will factor in usage rates, injuries and weekly performances. Listed below are some intriguing sleeper options to potentially target prior to kickoff in Week 1 of the 2020 season.
Quarterback
Tyrod Taylor, Los Angeles Chargers
Taylor was officially named the Chargers’ starting quarterback by head coach Anthony Lynn, which means T-Mobile is officially back in business. While the Chargers won’t have starting receiver Mike Williams, they will field a solid offense. And most importantly, they’ll oppose the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Taylor’s quarterback matchup ranks as the easiest in Week 1, per PFF’s strength of schedule (SoS) metric, while his schedule over the course of the season ranks 19th in terms of ease.
If you need another reason to at least grab Taylor for this week, the Bengals’ defense allowed the most rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks in 2019. PFF’s fantasy projections rank Taylor as the QB15 for Week 1.
