It is my honor and privilege to step in for my esteemed colleague Ross Miles this week with a look at the waiver wire from an IDP perspective. While they are big shoes to fill I will slap on some extra socks and take a crack at it.
With just a single week’s worth of games to go off of, it is still too early to be able to safely say there are trends in place. Three to four weeks of action will bring things into a better focus. That said there were quite a few eye-opening performances in Week 1 that IDP owners need take immediate notice of. Working the waiver wire is an intricate part of building a championship roster and don’t be afraid to be active early and often. A catch-and-release strategy can be the way to go if a player you pick up early cools off and matchups become more readily identified. That’s the beauty of IDP formats.
Here are some ideas of IDP options to add heading into Week 2.
Defensive linemen
Chris Long, Philadelphia Eagles
Lost among the bigger names along the Eagles defensive line (like Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett and Michael Bennett), there’s a good chance Long went undrafted. The veteran had a productive season opener, finishing with four total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble while playing 39 snaps. The Eagles defensive line rotation assures that there are fresh legs getting after the quarterback on each play and Long is a nice grab at a thin IDP position.
