A little over a month ago, I took a look at 32 different players across the NFL as they got set to embark on training camps across the country. The goal was to feature players with the most to prove, the most room to go up/down ADP wise, and the players involved in the most intriguing camp battles.
Today, we’re taking a look back at all 32 players to see where they’re at now. Below is the AFC, and here's the NFC. For some of these players, not much has changed. For others, the light bulb came on or slowly dimmed out entirely. Let’s jump right in.
AFC East
Jay Ajayi, RB, Miami Dolphins
At the time of publication, Ajayi was the lone back in Miami as rookie Kenyan Drake continued to nurse an injury he suffered during OTAs. In the coming weeks, Ajayi’s ADP skyrocketed. He went from a sixth-/seventh-rounder at the time of publication to a fourth-round draft pick in some best-ball leagues. Then Arian Foster signed. Ajayi’s stock plummeted. As I wrote about in early July, the key thing to watch out for was Ajayi’s improvement in the passing game. We didn’t get to see that in the preseason and we heard no reports of any improvements in that area during camp. We did hear Adam Gase call Ajayi’s passing game out once before the team signed Foster. With that said, everything about Ajayi’s elite per-touch metrics from 2015 are still true, and he did run with the starters in the third preseason game, so at a current ADP of 8.12 and No. 99 overall, he makes for a solid mid-round swing-for-the-fences pick.
