NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign former Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk to a large deal. The organization also added G Brandon Scherff, boosting the league’s reigning 32nd-ranked scoring offense in a major way just hours into the legal tampering period of free agency.
Kirk enjoyed the best season of his professional life in 2021, producing career-high marks in receptions (78) and receiving yards (990) on the back of a stellar 72.7 PFF receiving grade. Overall, Kirk's average of 1.81 yards per route run led all Cardinals players with at least 20 targets.

The Cardinals used Kirk both in the slot as well as out wide throughout his career, but the rising fifth-year talent certainly seemed more comfortable when aligned on the inside of the formation in 2021:
- Kirk in the slot: 91.9 PFF receiving grade, 4.77 yards per route run, 121.8 QB rating when targeted
- Out wide: 62.1 PFF receiving grade, 1.16 yards per route run, 87.3 QB rating when targeted
It remains to be seen exactly how Kirk will be used in Jacksonville. Marvin Jones figures to maintain a starting spot on the outside, but Laviska Shenault and/or Travis Etienne (maybe?!) could see plenty of work in the slot.
