NFL Week 4 fantasy football waiver wire targets

• Add De’Von Achane: Anytime a running back is able to score four times in the same game, he’s an obvious must-add for fantasy football purposes.

Tank Dell does it again: The Texans’ third-round rookie followed up his seven-catch, 72-yard performance with a five-catch, 145-yard effort in Week 3.

Mike Williams’ injury leaves opportunities for others: Josh Palmer and Quentin Johnston should see more playing time while Williams is out.

Estimated Reading Time: 19 minutes

Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season is just about in the books. Here are the players you should be targeting in your fantasy football leagues, including targets in smaller leagues and deeper leagues, as well as players to avoid.

Quarterback

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (Rostered in 47.4% of ESPN leagues)

Love’s numbers were only OK in Week 3. He finished with 22 completions on 44 attempts for 259 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

  • He showed what he’s capable of in the run game, recording nine carries for 39 yards and a rushing touchdown. He led the team in rushing yards.
  • Love accomplished that without his top running back, wide receiver, left tackle or left guard — all due to injury.
  • Love has thrown for seven touchdowns so far this season, tying for the seventh most.
  • There are plenty of concerning numbers to point to for Love, but he should also play better once arguably the four most talented players on the Packers’ offense are healthy again.

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans (10.8%)

Stroud is one of the highest-volume quarterbacks of the season so far.

  • Stroud completed 20 of his 30 pass attempts in Week 3 for 280 yards and two touchdowns, throwing 30 times despite having a lead for nearly the entire game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • Stroud has dropped back to pass 140 times this year, which is the second most among quarterbacks.
  • He is among the league leaders in passing yards but has thrown only four touchdowns.
  • While most of Stroud’s fantasy football success to this point has been due to volume, he’s also grading out better than most rookie quarterbacks tend to over the first three weeks of Year 1.
  • It will take only a few more performances like this before we start viewing Stroud as an every-week fantasy starter.
