Congratulations on making it to this point in the fantasy football season. It’s playoffs time, which means we are looking for IDPs who we can insert into our starting lineups, as we don't have much use for depth pieces this late in the season.

Because of that,  there aren't going to be many defensive linemen mentioned this week. However, the linebacker and safety positions are littered with capable contributors. Barring injuries and COVID-19 exposure, only use the waiver wire to fill in holes in your fantasy starting lineup.

DEFENSIVE LINE

EDGE LORENZO CARTER, NEW YORK GIANTS

Carter played a significant number of snaps on the edge for the Giants until rookie Azeez Ojulari, whose snap share has increased since the start of the year. After missing a few games midway through the season, Carter played his highest snap share (69%) since returning to the lineup in Week 12 and recorded his biggest game of the year as a result.

Carter managed two sacks, a forced fumble, three QB hits, a pass breakup and four tackles against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15, making for a massive fantasy day, which will put a lot of eyes on him as a waiver-wire add this week. Carter earned an 86.1 pass-rush grade on Sunday, forcing seven pressures, en route to a team-high 90.8 overall grade.

Again, there aren’t a lot of defensive line waiver options who should be considered, but Carter is viable, especially if your fantasy team is in need of a Week 17 spot start, as Carter will face the Chicago Bears in a plus matchup.
