The waiver period ahead of NFL Week 3 has come and gone in most fantasy football leagues, but there's still time to improve your fantasy roster for Week 3 and the rest of the season.

Here are 25 potential free agents to consider adding to your fantasy football teams. For skill players, I’m looking at the best options to pick up to help for the rest of the season. For kickers and team defenses, I’m looking at those that can be picked up to help for this week. The players are grouped based on the percentage of leagues they are available in at ESPN.

Note: Someone like Tim Patrick qualifies for a number of these tiers but is placed in the first group to make room for other players.

QB Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Andy Dalton suffered a bone bruise in his Week 2 game against the Bengals and gave way for Fields in the second half. It’s unclear exactly how long the former Cincinnati Bengal and Dallas Cowboy will miss, but he is officially out for the Bears next game, giving Fields at least one week to prove his worth as a 2021 starter.

The first-round rookie has top-eight fantasy potential whenever he does become the full-time starter. He ranks sixth among quarterbacks in rushing attempts despite not playing a full NFL game yet, and he ranks in the top half of the league in fantasy points per dropback — a figure that should only get better.
