As we head into Week 5 of the NFL season, it’s time for a look at the top fantasy football cash game plays in FanDuel DFS games.

Winning FanDuel cash lineups continue to have one common theme across them. If you can have an accurate projection on a player’s potential targets and volume within an offense, you can find the best cash game plays of the week. That’s our overall goal here within this weekly article. Fine-tuning the best process in order to play the highest-scoring cash game lineups possible. Let’s see what Week 5 has in store for us.

Quarterbacks

Pricing at the quarterback position is a bit more of a challenge on FanDuel this week with some of the top options costing quite a bit of salary.

If paying up at the position, it’s hard to ignore the rushing floor that Cam Newton provides as a safe cash option. Newton's rushing stats so far in three games have been outstanding — 13-58-1, 5-42-0, and 10-36-2. Luckily for Newton, he also faces a poor pass defense that ranks bottom-12 in our pass-rush grades and coverage grades to start the year. Newton has absolutely gone off when playing at home as 7-point favorites over the past three years, averaging 28.6 FD points in seven occurrences.

Last week we saw that the Minnesota defense has some work to do after they allowed the Rams to score 38 points on them. The Vikings’ pass-funnel defense should lead to plenty of pass attempts by Carson Wentz this week in what looks like a surprisingly fast-paced game that should have plenty of volume. Wentz threw 50 times in his first return to action, putting up 348 passing yards and 20.72 FD points. With Everson Griffen already ruled out and Trae Waynes and Linval Joseph being questionable, Wentz could have another high-quality fantasy outing here in Week 5.

Quarterback scoring has gone up substantially across the league and paying top dollar for a quarterback isn’t an absolute necessity. One of the better values of the week is Blake Bortles taking on a Kansas City Chiefs secondary that’s had trouble stopping almost any quarterback not named Case Keenum. The Chiefs’ combination of high pace and a leaky secondary make this a game where Bortles could be throwing a ton now that we’ve already learned Leonard Fournette has been ruled out.
