Free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) leagues level the playing field for nabbing fantasy free agents after each week of the NFL season. They also allow fantasy managers to employ a great deal more strategy when acquiring players because each team has a limited amount of dollars to work with.

All players in this article will be rostered in fewer than half of Yahoo leagues unless otherwise noted. Here is how you should be allocating your FAAB heading into Week 9.

RB JaMycal Hasty, San Francisco 49ers

Suggested FAAB Spend: 10%

The 49ers are going to be without their top three backs Thursday. That leaves Jerick McKinnon and Hasty as their two runners versus the Packers. Hasty now has at least nine carries in three straight games. McKinnon, on the other hand, has 12 carries combined over his previous four games.

Hasty doesn’t project to have a large role as a pass-catcher but could be good for 15 or more carries in each of his next few games. That’s worth a modest bid from teams reeling at running back.

RB Matt Breida, Miami Dolphins

Suggested FAAB Spend: 15%

The Dolphins are expecting Myles Gaskin to miss three weeks with an MCL sprain, leaving the workhorse role up for grabs in Miami. Jordan Howard will likely be active for Week 9, but his healthy scratches this year imply he won’t earn a significant role.

For Breida, this could mean a few weeks of immense volume. The Dolphins surprisingly rank 17th in rush attempts per game, and Breida is also a notable pass-catcher. He currently boasts the highest receiving grade of the Miami backs on an extremely small sample. Among backs with at least 30 targets in 2018, his 90.1 receiving grade that year led the position.

WR Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans

Suggested FAAB Spend: 15%

Davis has missed much of 2020 while on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but he’s been performing admirably when on the field. He has scored at least 12 PPR points in every single game this year and was a top-20 graded receiver (min. 25 targets) before exploding in Week 8.
