Free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) leagues level the playing field for nabbing fantasy free agents after each week of the NFL season. They also allow fantasy managers to employ a great deal more strategy when acquiring players because each team has a limited number of dollars to work with.
All players in this article will be rostered in less than half of Yahoo leagues unless otherwise noted. Here is how you should be allocating your FAAB heading into Week 12.
RB Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens
Suggested FAAB Spend: 25+%
The Ravens placed Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and both will miss at least Week 12. Edwards is the only back with a carry on the active roster. He doesn’t offer anything as a pass-catcher, but Justice Hill earning one touch to Edwards’ 88 on the season points toward a big game for the grinder. Edwards is worth dumping a massive bid on for teams that need wins now to make the playoffs.
WR Damiere Byrd, New England Patriots
Suggested FAAB Spend: 1-3%
Byrd will be the hot name to bid on after going for 132 yards and a score on six receptions in Week 11, but it’s difficult to trust him in the future. He entered the week ranked 71st in yards per route run among receivers (min. 30 targets). Byrd has consistently led the Patriots in routes but is rarely targeted.
He has four games with more than four targets this year, yet Week 12 was his first game with over 75 yards or a touchdown. His seven targets were still only third-most for New England. Byrd is worth a small bid for teams in need of some FLEX depth, but his ceiling seems fairly capped.
