Erickson: DFS picks for NFL Week 3

Another weekend of NFL action is on deck, so it’s time to dive into the projections to find all the best values on DraftKings to ensure a profitable Week 3.

I had my fair share of hits from Week 2 in DFS, including Dak Prescott, Jonathan Taylor, Diontae Johnson and Mark Andrews, with the biggest smash being running back Aaron Jones. He's the perfect reminder that you don’t always have to fill lineups with multiple 1%-rostered players to win DFS tournaments.

Davante Adams was mega chalk and busted, so Jones was the best leverage play on the slate playing off his high-rostered teammate. Keep that in mind as we go through my favorite picks for the 12-game main slate for all positions — D/STs included — for both cash and GPP contests.

Quarterbacks

Cash Quarterback: KYLER MURRAY, ARIZONA CARDINALS ($6,800)

So, I lied last week. I ended up not playing Kyler Murray in my main cash lineup because I managed to finagle my way up to Dak Prescott. But with Prescott’s salary now over 7K, Murray presents the best value at quarterback on the slate, and unless there's any more breaking news that opens up a free square, Murray will likely be my quarterback selection come Sunday.

The Detroit Lions have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position this season. They also have faced the most pass attempts of 20 or more yards and the third-highest touchdown percentage (7.6%).

It’s hard to expect Murray to continue scoring rushing touchdowns every single week (three so far this year), but his touchdown passes are going to positively regress with the Cardinals throwing so often. Week 3 seems like the perfect spot for that regression to start kicking in.

This also isn’t the first time Murray will have faced the Lions under their defensive-minded head coach Matt Patricia. In Murray’s first NFL game in 2019, Murray played the Lions and had a solid fantasy day. He scored over 19 fantasy points without essentially any rushing production.

Kilff Kingsbury has pushed all his chips in on Murray’s rushing ability in 2020, so he should easily surpass his prior production versus Detroit in Week 3.
