Welcome to the 2019 Wild Card Round DraftKings GPP guide! Due to the playoff slates having fewer games, I’ll be changing the typical position-by-position fantasy football outlook and taking a different approach with this article. This tournament overview will cover some of the top core plays, stacking options, and some low-owned contrarian darts that could help pay off handsomely and hopefully lead to you taking down a tournament. Whether you’re looking to continue to ride your 2018 success into the postseason or just looking to keep playing fantasy football now that the regular season is over, the smaller nature of NFL playoff DFS makes it an exciting challenge for everyone.

Chalk plays

Ezekiel Elliott ($9,000)

The chalk running back play of the week, no back had more touches per game (25.4) than Elliott in 2018. His most impressive feat this year was combining his 2017 rushing workload with an uptick in targets, where he finished top-five among all running backs (6.1 targets per game). That volume makes Zeke gamescript-agnostic and someone that will likely carry heavy ownership into tournaments this week. The Seahawks defense showed signs of wear toward the end of the regular season, allowing versatile backs to pick up fantasy points rushing and receiving against them. They allowed at least 20-plus DK points to opposing lead backs in five of the last six weeks to close the season (excluding Week 17), ultimately finishing as a top-10 fantasy matchup.

DeAndre Hopkins ($8,700)

Hopkins was not only a target monster for Houston (159), he saw an incredible amount of volume in the red zone. As noted by Tyler Loechner, Hopkins led the NFL with 48 red-zone targets while sporting the second-most end-zone targets (18). He led the league in total target share (32%) while also sporting the highest market share of his team’s air yards (45%). There are few locks when it comes to DFS, but when it comes to volume, Hopkins has it in spades. He saw double-digit targets in both regular season matchups with the Colts (12, 10) and scored a touchdown in each matchup.
